Northeast Region

Parents,
Last Wednesday your child received a copy of the 11 NE states, capitals, and abbreviations. We also color coded a map of the U.S. for them to keep in their binder, ALL YEAR LONG. Each time we take a test over a region of the U.S. they will have to label each state on a blank map, and complete a chart with each states' capital and abbreviation.

"How can I help?" you ask. Students will receive the study guide at the beginning of the unit. They will have from 10-12 states to learn at a time. Practice them at home, in the car, waiting in line at the grocery store. Have them create funny ways to remember a state and it's capital.
For instance, to remember Trenton, New Jersey say "My friend TRENT plays ON my football team and he needed a NEW JERSEY."

Help them by looking over the color coded map in their binder. The NE is colored blue. Don't make this a hard thing, but make sure that they do study. Thanks for your help!

Mrs. Reeves
